I work in an elementary school, specifically with children in special education. Because of this, I am constantly barraged with requests for the proper spelling of a word.  I am, for the most part, a word/spelling/grammar nazi, and I want people taught correctly.  A while back our former high school small group was meeting on a Sunday evening, and we were discussing word spellings.  The word of choice was “definitely”.  Most of our teens abbreviated this in both their speech and text lingo to “def”.  Therefore, they were truly clueless as to the word’s proper spelling!  🙂  I came across this website today, and couldn’t help but laugh, laugh, and then laugh some more…

D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y

After I found that site, and text it to Holly Walker (the culprit who sparked the original “definitely” conversation), I stumbled upon this one:

100 Most Often Mispelled Misspelled Words in English

The kind of tricks and quips posted here are my keys to remember so many peculiar spellings!  I so enjoy remembering these things, and sharing them with others, like my slightly dyslexic husband!
