I enjoy how creative Marla is at finding multiple ways to motivate and touch people. She leads by example and has developed a “whole person concept” in her approach to reaching her clients. Body, Mind and Spirit are things that make up us all. Grateful for the daily challenges she put forward to keep us engaged. It is obvious she is passionate about what she does.
Reminders through Scripture to focus and lean on the Father caused me to be less anxious and grumpy.
I loved the daily scriptures and Marla’s thoughtful prompting to think about the meaning in relation to what we were going through. I found so many new insights of familiar scriptures that stayed with me all day. I’ve really been struggling with finding motivation to change my daily bad eating habits. I’m amazed at how quickly and easily I ditched the coffee and chocolate on day 1 of the challenge! It was exactly what I needed!
I was able to really fight the need to unnecessary eating and snacking. I was able to tune in on the impulse to eat and give thoughts to how I would actually felt if I ate a bag of chips. The motivation and discipline is back!
“Before counseling, I realized I had a distant relationship with God. I knew all the “Sunday school” answers; yet, I did not know how they personally related to me. Marla not only walked me through what it means to be a child of God, but she also helped me actively pursue a better relationship with the Lord. She assigned homework that eventually turned into a habit of studying the Bible more regularly than I had ever done. I have Marla and those counseling sessions to thank for my steady growth in a relationship with God.”
Marla is very capable of handling-through the direction of the Holy Spirit-many different needs and issues amongst women. She is not only a counselor for, say, marital problems, but she can also handle eating disorders and family problems. God has a gifted her with a wisdom that can only come from Him. She is smart and curious, very caring and compassionate, but can be tough as well!
Counseling helped me immeasurably! Through the truth of God’s Word and under the direction of the Holy Spirit Marla showed me how to renew my mind by putting off the old nature and putting on life in the Spirit and how surrendering to the Father leads to true freedom! There is freedom in obedience and surrender because our God is trustworthy and sovereign. I am no longer in bondage to my flesh and sin via food addiction and eating disorders and I am truly free like I haven’t been in years – maybe ever! Thank You, Lord, for Marla.
Marla is very sympathetic and patient with
I have a fresh understanding of my biblical identity. I (re)discovered freedom in my faith and don’t feel like I am under as much bondage that I was never meant to hold on to. Counseling made me feel safe and understood. I don’t feel as defensive, and don’t assume what people think of me. Relationship with my husband is much more open and intimate. We understand each other’s strengths and weakness so much more.
I feel that my faith and trust in God has grown significantly, resulting in being able to better control my anxiety. She provided great projects, techniques and scripture to help me get through my tough times. By the end of our sessions, I was so glad I had committed to doing this because I feel more confident and in control of my feelings, as well as closer to God.
“This is so much more than I ever expected in seeking counseling.”
She displayed a wealth of care and understanding in her prayer time apart from our sessions and in the kinds of
Encouragement to pursue the purpose and passion Abba already placed in my heart. Marla was grounding in giving me support to forge through the strongest desires I’ve ever had that compromise my identity as a faithful wife to my husband. I am still learning what it means to weave through the shards of warfare and learn to find my sole identity in being Loved by the Father.
Counseling helped me to clarify what was causing my anxiety in my relationship (my own past and/or aspects of the relationship itself). It also helped me clarify the information I needed in order to make decisions about whether to move forward in my relationship now or in the future. Finally, it gave me a framework for making Godly decisions while at the same time understanding the areas in which there isn’t a single God-ordained answer and, in those situations, how to make choices that reflect who God made me uniquely to be.
“It has been so helpful just to have someone to talk to about these things.”
“I sought out Marla as my wife and I approached our 10th anniversary because of her emphasis on Biblical Counseling. In our 13 years together now, we’ve used couples counseling to strengthen and reaffirm our relationship three times, with this latest time being the most successful. When we began working with Marla, communication over money and the state of my self-started business improved significantly. I give our counseling with Marla credit for helping us experience the best two years of our marriage so far. I highly recommend her.”
